20:20 S1 BIM: it’s more than just 3D; isn’t it?

The Government Construction Strategy is the latest in a line of reports produced to identify how clients to the construction industry can gain better value in the delivery of their projects. Where the latest report differs from the others is that it identifies a new prototype model, in the form of multi-dimensional modelling tools that are seen, in some quarters, as the “Silver Bullet” that will solve all project problems.

The lecture will argue that the BIM3D modelling is, without an overarching delivery strategy, a technical tool that will not deliver either improved project delivery or increased asset performance to the client. The lecture will propose a more strategic approach to project delivery that is more than 3D modelling.
