Blackboard Collaborate is a powerful all-in-one platform that offers you an immersive human experience through your computer, tablet, or mobile device anywhere, anytime.  It offers the following accessibility features.

Low Vision and Blind

  • Panels: Maximize panel sizes to make the viewing area larger.
  • Activity Window: Standalone window that reports various events that take place. Perform simple functions through a command-line interface.
  • Audible Notifications: System messages sent as sounds to notify users when certain important events occur in a session.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts: Press one or more keys in combination to perform a function.
  • Hot Keys: A type of keyboard shortcut that differs from standard keyboard shortcuts.
  • Keyboard Navigation: Use the keyboard to navigate in a session.
  • Chat Text Size: Set the size of text in the chat conversation pane.
  • Notes Text Size: Change the size of the text in the Notes editor.
  • Application Sharing Host Options: Determine how the application sharing window appears while you are hosting a session.
  • Chat Emoticon Text Strings: Type text to enter emoticons.

   Mobility

  • Keyboard Shortcuts: Press one or more keys in combination to perform a function.
  • Hot Keys: A type of keyboard shortcut that differs from standard keyboard shortcuts.
  • Mnemonics: An underlined letter or number that appears in a menu title or menu option. When you press it with the ALT key, you activate a command or navigate to an element in the user interface.
  • Keyboard Navigation: Use the keyboard to navigate in a session.

   Colour Blind 

  • Window Display Options: Customize the display of the closed-captioning window by changing the font, size, and colour of the text and the colour of the background.
  • Application Sharing Host Options: Determine the shared region and emphasized cursor colours.
  • Chat Emoticon Text Strings: Type text to enter emoticons.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing

  • Activity Window: Standalone window that reports various events that take place, such as reporting when the timer expiration sound occurs.
  • Visual Notifications: Enable and disable the notifications for various events.
  • Closed Captioning: Session attendees can transcribe audio information for deaf and hard of hearing attendees while a session is in progress.
  • Microphone Settings and Speaker Settings: Adjust your system settings.
  • Audio Setup Wizard: Verify that your microphone and speaker are set up correctly. You are guided through selecting the devices and setting your speaker and microphone volumes.
