Blackboard Ultra Release November 2020 (v3900.0)
Blackboard Ultra is a cloud-based service, and this means that there are regular monthly updates to the system. Theses updates may include maintenance, enhancements and new features. In the November release, there are new features coming to the gradebook, test timer and the icons seen in the Course Content are larger and have more colour to help them stand out. These changes will appear on Westminster’s live Blackboard system from 5th November 2020.
This release introduces improvements to the student list view in the Blackboard Ultra gradebook.
- Instructors can now send messages and add accommodations for a student in the gradebook’s student list view. Find out more
- Instructors can set up activity stream alerts based on their students’ progress related to inactivity and grades. For example, you can set an alert to notify you which students haven’t logged in the last 5 days. Find out more
Test Timer Update
Students will know how much time they have left when they take a test down to the last second. Previously, if a timer was used for a test, the student wouldn’t know how long they had left with 1-minute remaining.
In this release, you’ll see new large icons in the Ultra experience. These changes have been made to improve accessibility and are more distinctive to avoid confusion between similar icons.
Based on user feedback, Blackboard have removed the blue background from the updated icons.
Details and Actions items will now load in one wave to prevent user from clicking the wrong item. This will prevent students and instructors from selecting the wrong item as the page loads.
