BP and Common Purpose are proud to announce once again that they are partnering to deliver CSCLeaders for Students, a four-day leadership development programme for university students from Commonwealth countries.
The programme is free to attend for students and will be run in London from 23 – 26 June 2014, with two days taking place at BP’s global Head Quarters and two days at UCL – the Host University Partner for the programme.
CSCLeaders for Students gives students real and practical experiences, broadening their horizons and challenging them to adapt and thrive in diverse situations. It equips them with the tools they need to lead change, now and in the future. As a participant, they will explore a major world challenge from a local perspective. They will meet visionary thinkers from global businesses, governments and international not-for-profit organisations to help them understand the challenge and find creative ideas to help solve it. They will then present their findings and these will feed into the annual senior leaders programme.
Benefits to participants:
- Build their CV: add a valuable experience that employers are looking for
- Develop leadership skills to help them in university and in their career
- Make a difference to the future of the Commonwealth and the world
- Develop Cultural Intelligence – the ability to thrive in multiple cultures
The challenge for 2014/2015 is ‘what makes a city smart?’ Over four days students will meet visionary thinkers from global businesses, governments and international not-for-profit organisations to help them understand the challenge and find creative ideas to help solve it. Some of the organisations they may hear from or visit:
- Foreign and Commonwealth Office
- Goldman Sachs
- DLA Piper
- Rolls Royce
- International Red Cross
- London Fire Brigade
Best of all, they won’t be alone; they will build their connections and make new friends – and the solutions and knowledge they build will be passed to other CSCLeaders events held in Commonwealth cities around the world.
The application deadline is the 26th May.
