Marie Curie’s digital team are digital subject matter experts, passionate about leveraging the full power of digital communications, channels and technologies as part of a user-centric approach to fundraising, information provision and care. They drive business change and support colleagues in their understanding and integration of digital to the benefit of the charity and the audiences.

The digital department is a mixture of several areas including Analysis, Marketing, Social Media, Website Management and Development. They are looking for a committed and passionate volunteer intern to help provide support in all these areas – you’ll be learning all the key aspects of a busy digital department. They are looking for someone with new opinions, approaches, and an interest in digital – a fresh pair eyes is always welcome. If you’re looking for a varied role with hands-on experience at a digital department of a major national charity, this is an excellent opportunity for you!The position is for up to 3 days a week for 12 weeks.

Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:

Analysis & Project Management

  • Assist with facilitating workshops/requirements gathering sessions
  • Help write and define requirements for development using Scrum techniques, stories
  • Support the team by helping to write project plans and define milestones
  • Help track project progress and communicate issues appropriately

Development

  • Help conduct user testing of website development
  • Assist with writing test scripts for users from defined requirements

Website Management

  • Support SEO manager with setting up links, redirects and content audits
  • Help UX designer with facilitating user testing
  • Look at analysis of website performance with Senior Digital Analytics Executive
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and enhancements on the Marie Curie website
  • Help produce and communicate updates to send out to our stakeholders to let them know what’s recently been delivered as part of a sprint

Marketing

  • Support the Email Marketing Executive with the delivery of the Charity’s email schedule
  • Help produce weekly reports & competitor analysis
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and enhancements to email comms
  • Support the Digital Marketing Executive with activities in relation to paid media

Social Media

  • Support Social Media Manager in responding to queries and comments from our community
  • Identify opportunities to promote Marie Curie’s information and support to our social media audience
  • Help produce reports and competitor analysis about social media best practice
