A whole month filled with workshops, presentations, guest speakers and networking opportunities to help you kick start your career.

Innovation, Freelancing and Starting Your Own Business: Business Model Canvas Workshop

In this workshop, you will learn to organise, articulate and simplify business ideas and innovations using the Business Model Canvas and the Lean Canvas; an essential tool widely used to translate complex and multifaceted business concepts of all types into more easily manageable and understandable building blocks.

Inclusive Recruitment Practices Panel (5-6pm), Property & Construction Fair

The discussion will focus on how these organisations have created a company culture that supports diversity in their workforce and will also focus on offering an insight into their recruitment practices and the various stages (application, interview, assessment centre).

Above all, students from all backgrounds and at all levels will get indispensable advice from leading employers on how to prepare for their applications.



Property and Construction Careers Fair 2019

This is an amazing opportunity to meet with over 40 leading employers in the property and construction sector and learn first-hand about their organisation. They will be recruiting for undergraduate placements, summer internships and graduate positions and schemes. Opportunities will be of relevance to students from all years of study both on an undergraduate and postgraduate level.

CBRE, Mace, JLL, Barratt Developments, Bouygues UK, Savills, Carter Jonas and Grainger are only some of the companies that will be attending



    Week 3: October 14th – October 20th

Creative Springboard: How creatives can set up successful businesses, practices and freelance work

Monday 14 October 2019, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM    Harrow Campus

This workshop, we will cover how to set up as a working and enterprising fine artist, maker, designer, illustrator or photographer. Some visual and applied artists will wish to set up an arts or crafts practice, whereas other commercial creatives may wish to set up a business or work freelance. Alongside this important subject area, we will also explore different sources of funding and how to create opportunities for yourself.



Skills Academy: Job Search Strategies for International Students

Are you an international student keen to develop a career or gain experience in the UK? Are the visa regulations leaving you confused about the job search and approaching organisations? This session offers an introduction on how to contact employers and navigate the visa system.

This is an exclusive opportunity to meet the Gradcracker team.

Gradcracker broaden students’ horizons by introducing you to the many industry sectors which require your skills. You will learn how to become better applicants by providing you with research and organisational techniques and tools.

Enterprise Legal Skills 101: Protecting Your Designs, Work & Ideas -IP, Licensing, Trademarks & NDAs

A legal expert-led workshop on Intellectual Property: how to identify the value of the IP you create, the different forms of IP – how to protect it and options on how it can commercialise it. The workshop will also introduce branding laws, copyright legislation and Non Disclosure Agreements.

Enterprise Legal Skills 101: Starting and Registering a Business and Working as a Freelancer (Tax, Business Structures, Self-Employment, Contracts and Service Level Agreements etc.)

A legal expert-led workshop demystifying on the legal processes and requirement to register, set up and operate a business and work as a freelancer. The workshop will cover tax, business structures, self-employment, contracts and service level agreements, and much more.



Life Sciences Careers Event – Empowering you for a bright future!

Students attending the event will have the opportunity to hear from successful and inspiring speakers who will be sharing their insights and knowledge of the industry, as well as an overview of their career paths. As the Life Sciences industry continues to rapidly change, students will also have the chance to informally talk to the panellists about some of the issues around developing a career in the field.

This is your opportunity to gain valuable industry knowledge and advice for the application/ selection processes, to help you maximize your chance of being successful at those stages.



A Deep Dive into Creative, Tech And Startup Careers (Part of the Big Idea Competition Event Series)

 Thursday 31 October 2019, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM   Marylebone Campus

This interactive discussion-led workshop takes an honest look at the types of jobs and careers that are out there in the creative, startup and design industry. It aims to equip attendees with the insights and tools to help them make the most of their future roles. The workshop will include a brief overview of creative, tech, design and startup teams, some common misconceptions about creative career and startup life, and the importance of mentors.
