Considering what to do next year? Perhaps you’ve recently graduated or finished studying and want to gain skills and do something rewarding?

We have the opportunity for you!

We need volunteers in Nicaragua. Unsure where Nicaragua is? It’s in Central America, bordering Costa Rica and Honduras. Nicaragua is well known for its vast terrain of volcanoes and lakes; however it is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere and needs your support.

Volunteer as part of Raleigh International Citizen Service (ICS) and you could be working on a water, sanitation and hygiene project, or a livelihoods project supporting local communities to develop small businesses and enterprises.

Volunteer testimonials

“I learned so much Spanish while volunteering with Raleigh ICS in Nicaragua. I loved living with a host family, working with the local community, and leading a team of volunteers who were half from Nicaragua and half from the UK. I would definitely recommend it!”.

Lucy, volunteered in Nicaragua as a Team Leader

“If you’re thinking of applying for ICS you’ll have to put in a lot of effort to make your project successful, but you’ll gain so much on a personal and professional level it’ll be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make”.

John, volunteered in Nicaragua as a Team Leader

ICS is led by VSO and funded by the UK government, so your flights and all other expenses will be covered. We just ask you to fundraise a minimum of £800 to show your commitment to the programme.

Aged 18 – 25? You can apply as a volunteer (Spanish desirable). Aged 23 – 35? You can apply as a Team Leader (conversational to fluent Spanish essential).

Nicaragua placement dates;

15th March – 6th June 2017 (volunteers)

28th February – 2nd September 2017 (Team Leaders)

This is an incredible opportunity to live and work in a completely different culture, develop your Spanish and leadership skills, whilst contributing to long lasting development in rural communities.

ICS is a development programme that brings together young people from the UK and developing countries to volunteer in some of the poorest communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. ICS is delivered by respected development organisations, of which Raleigh is one.
