Bike Week is back at the University of Westminster! Anyone interested in sustainable travel, health and fitness, or just the pure joy of cycling, this national event is for you. The Environmental Sustainability team has organised a range of events for everyone from the greenest novice to the most seasoned cyclist. Check out our programme and come say hi!

Morning Spin – Monday 11th June to Friday 15th June, 8:00am, Regents Park

Start your day off right with a cycle around Regents Park. Find Westminster’s cycling champion Richard Hope at 7:55 for an 08:00 start and join him for a guided ride around beautiful Regents Park. As you come into the park from Camden, meet near the pelican crossing.

If you don’t have a bike but you’d like to come along to one of our bike rides, why not try a Santander bike? Or if you’re a member of staff, you could be eligible for a money-saving loan on a shiny new bike!

 

Smoothie Bike – Monday 11th June to Wednesday 13th June, 10am, Various Campuses

Monday 11th June: Regent St, 10:00am-12:00pm

Tuesday 12th June: Marylebone, 10:00am-12:00pm

Wednesday 13th June: New Cavendish Street, 10:00am-12:00pm

Cycling into uni or work instead of sitting on the bus leaves you feeling fresh and bushy-tailed in the morning, but it also means you need some extra fuel to keep you going through the day. We’ve got you covered with our smoothie bike! Hop on to our smoothie bike  for a minute and your pedaling will produce the power to blend up a fresh fruit smoothie free of charge.

This is also a good way for cycle-phobes to get used to sitting on a saddle in a safe environment where you can’t crash into anything – plus you get a tasty reward at the end!

We’ll be in a different foyer every day from Monday-Wednesday so just come find us and get your free smoothie while you get fit (and save CO2 emissions by producing the energy yourself!).

Our qualified bike engineer will set up outside the main entrance of our campus buildings and provide free safety checks and basic maintenance to your bike. This is perfect if you want to cycle but your bike has seen better days and you’re scared of a hefty repair bill on a student budget!

 

Free Spin Class – Regent Street Gym – Wednesday 13th June, 12:15pm

Get used to pedaling a bike without the drama of London roads at one of the Regent Street gym’s spin classes! We’ve secured a few free slots in the Wednesday class. Booking opens Monday 11th June. Email Sam to book your slot.

 

Lunchtime Ride + Picnic – Regents Park – Friday 15th June, 12:00pm

Meet outside 101 New Cavendish Street. We will provide a drink and small snack, but please BYO picnic. We’ll go for a leisurely spin around the park and then settle in the sun for a well-deserved lunch. Please register beforehand so we have an idea of numbers, but unregistered extras are welcome!
