The Volunteering and Work Experience Fair was held at the New Cavendish campus last week, showcasing hundreds of volunteering opportunities from more than 40 charities and organisations and attracted more than 500 students.
The fair, themed as #LevelUp, was brought together by the University of Westminster’s Corporate Social Responsibility team (CSR) and the Students’ Union (UWSU). The Fair focused on connecting psychology and life sciences students with relevant, reputable and innovative charities and organisations in the UK such as Chain of Hope, Ambitious about Autism, Team London, and Westminster City Council.
The feedback we received from our students during the fair was incredibly positive; for example a BSc Biomedical Sciences student shared; “I want to do medicine after I graduate so for me volunteering is a wonderful way to gain practical skills to add to my academic learning, contribute to society and develop personally. The Volunteering and Work Experience Fair has offered me a lot opportunities and I have met amazing people.”
Volunteering has always been a great way to act for others, discover hidden strengths and boost employability. The University of Westminster has always encouraged our students to volunteer and engage with the community on a local, national and international scale.
The Volunteering and Work Experience Fair is an open door for our students to walk through, find inspiration, develop the spirit of volunteerism and support them to be highly employable, globally engaged and socially responsible graduates.
Through the theme Change for Good, the CSR team and the Students Volunteering Services are proud to be the special bridge connecting Westminster students with society for a good cause, exposing them to the plethora of professional opportunities available through strategic partnerships and community support.
