We have signed up to the UK governments Emissions Reduction Pledge – this means we have committed to reducing our carbon emissions by 30% by 2020/21 against a 2009/2010 baseline.
This pledge has been developed with the aim of reducing emissions across the wider public and higher education sectors in England, and was launched in 2018 as part of the UKs Clean Growth Strategy. As part of this, the University of Westminster will be submitting data to show how we are achieving against this target, and what approaches we are taking to reduce our carbon emissions.
Across the University, work is already underway to reduce these carbon emissions – from installing energy efficient LED lighting to encouraging staff and students to cycle to campus. We have already made huge strides over the past 10 years with reducing our emissions, and signing up to this pledge shows our commitment to further reducing our impacts on the environment.
