The CMP degree show of final year work opens on the evening of Thursday 19th June (5.30 – 8.00pm) at Ambika P3, and runs until 22nd June.
This will be a showcase of excellence across the full breadth of media covered by CMP: photography, films, documentaries, interactive projects and installations.
The show is titled BORDERLESS, and will feature work on diverse themes such as: photography reflecting on eco-communities; bio-luminescent interactive sculpture; jealous robots; the fall of Romanian communism; recollections of Chinese school life; the aftermath of earthquakes in Italy; video postcards from Bangladeshi migrant workers; and so much more.
We then screen our graduation film productions at a special event at BAFTA on Sunday 22nd June, from 6.00 – 10.30pm. This is a ticket only event, but enquiries to attend are welcome.
Please see our Degree Show information for more details.
Hybrid Minds opened in the newly refurbished Forum at Harrow campus on Thursday 26 June. The work was a feast of intensive projects in photography, film and interactive media from final year students on this broad interdisciplinary course.
The new space allowed a party atmosphere with music and refreshments to blend seamlessly with the work hung in two galleries while the films have the luxury surroundings of the auditorium with space for two hundred viewers.
This year the engagement of students with themes and issues was instructive and compelling, from the in depth portrayal of contemporary Cuba to teenage traumas in suburbia as photographic projects, complimented by films documenting rave culture and African dance lessons. Fictional work depicted a range of loss and longing in some of the most technically proficient student films yet seen. All this was enhanced by the state of the art projection facilities in the university campus at Harrow.
Helped by a balmy summers evening the party went on later than a mere opening, spilling into the open areas on campus and uniting staff, students, parents and industry professionals in yet another celebration of the achievements of Contemporary Media Practice students. Formal graduation follows on 2 July at the Festival Hall South Bank.
The CMP degree show of final year work, Hybrid Minds, opens on Wednesday 26th June at Harrow Campus, and runs until 29th June.
This will be a showcase of excellence across all media: films, documentaries, photography, interactive projects and installations.
Some of the work will already be on display for the forthcoming Open Day on Wednesday 19th June as well.
Preview: Wednesday 26 June 6-10pm
Show runs Thursday-Saturday 27-29 June 11am-6pm

“The Contemporary Media Practice degree show has for the last two years adopted as its central London display site the vast Ambika P3 gallery opposite Madame Tussaud’s on Marylebone Road. Last year spectators were confronted by a yurt strategically placed in the cavernous space where one could chill, festival like, and absorb the filmic work of graduating students. Many of these films go on the international festival circuit and get picked up by film producers and distributors. The June exhibition is an opportunity to see not only the pick of this year’s films but also the sheer diversity of media output from this interdisciplinary creative course.”
