Health Studies and Psychosocial Studies of Health

everix peak

Psycho-social studies of health investigate interconnections between social contexts (from such large-scale structural ones as the political economy and health care delivery systems to more intimate contexts such as personal and family relationships) and physical and mental health, particularly chronic conditions. The goal is to capture both wider social contexts and personal experience and voice. Some of our research is purely social-scientific (sociology, social gerontology), some is strictly psychological, and some is interdisciplinary, interweaving social scientific, psychological, and, often, biomedical and other disciplines. Our work is designed both to further academic knowledge and to positively impact on physical and mental health and patient experience.
