1 ) FORM A TEAM
Form a team of up to three members. Members should all be students at your university.
Depending on your interests and skills, browse the different design challenges proposed by each of the partner universities. Choose a brief to respond to and note the contact person at the partner university. You can only respond to one challenge, and this cannot be from your own university. Information on all the design briefs can be found here. A list of partner universities and contact persons at the institutions is available here.
To register your team please fill the registration form, available here. Please note the deadline for registration is 19th of October 2015. Once you have registered, we will send you more detailed instructions and contact information.
After you have registered and have chosen the design challenge you wish to respond to, we will contact you and assign you a Latitudes ambassador. A Latitudes ambassador is a student from the partner university that proposed the design challenge you are responding to. This ambassador will work with you and give you insights on the environmental challenges of his/her city and more detailed information on the case study, the site/or building and the design brief.
5) START DESIGNING!
With your team and the Latitudes ambassador you can start thinking on a design strategy and draft ideas to respond to the design challenge.
6) ATTEND THE SMART ROOM SEMINAR
As part of the design process and the knowledge exchange, each partner university will organise a virtual seminar about the design briefs. This seminar will be organised via the smart rooms and your team is only required to attend the seminar relevant to the design brief you are responding to. This will be an opportunity to discuss directly with design experts and the students from the partner university where you also be able to ask questions and clear any doubts about the design brief you are responding to. It is compulsory to attend this seminar in order to be eligible for the prize.
7) DOCUMENT YOUR TEAM WORK
Don’t forget to document your team work, including your design process, the meetings via the smart room with the Latitudes Ambassadors and the virtual formative seminar.
8) ATTEND THE SMART ROOM DESIGN REVIEW
This is your chance to get feedback from leading experts around the world! Your team will be able to show interim design ideas via the smart room to experts in the partner university. It is compulsory to attend this review in order to be eligible for the prize.
9) PREPARE AND SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY
Send us your video and a .pdf of the A1 project board and the text document to Latitudesdesignchallenge@westminster.ac.uk. Before submitting, please check the requirements, available here.
