One of the important teachings I took away from the Westminster Business School MBA Residential is the power of Positive Psychology. Positive Psychology was initially researched in 1998 at the University of Pennsylvania and since then has many followers, including entrepreneurs.  Positive Psychology can be practiced by individuals as well as big organisations.

Years of studies show strong connections between happiness at work which can be defined by engagement, sense of meaning, appreciation and increased productivity, customer loyalty and many other aspects of success.  Positive Psychology can be followed easily when an organisation is performing well and the overall atmosphere is good, but how can one be positive when environment is challenging and the future unknown? According to Positive Psychology organisations, in times of difficulty individuals should identify and focus on their personal strengths. Energy should not be wasted on negative conversations and emotions.

I personally like the idea of Positive Psychology; however I did find it difficult to apply the rules while practicing during group exercises. I wonder if everyone can learn to be positive and optimistic, and how Positive Psychology is perceived by those from different cultures?
