Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to a new term at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment!

We hope you have enjoyed your summer and for those of you who are joining us as a new student this academic year congratulations on your place at the University and we look forward to working with you and supporting you during your studies with us.

It is of huge importance to myself and my colleagues in the Faculty to provide you with the best teaching, knowledge, professional skills, opportunities and a first class experience in your journey through higher education onto your chosen career path. In fABE we are proud to have achieved the highest overall satisfaction score across the University in the National Student Survey (NSS) receiving 89% in Architecture, and a fantastic 92% in Tourism and Business and Master of Architecture. We are really proud of these results and continuously strive to improve these each year.

We have strong links with our professional bodies and leading practitioners and last year’s Destination of Leavers Survey showed that 75% of graduates from 2013/14 are already in managerial or professional level employment which is a testament to the good quality students and staff we are fortunate to have in the fABE.

I would like to draw your attention to the opportunities we can offer you for international exchange and study abroad having developed links with some of the best University’s in the world and the opportunities to develop your employability skills with our Work Placement Team

We will keep you updated on progress throughout the year!

We are really proud of our facilities and excited to be able to offer them to you this year!

Student Societies

As a student at the University you are automatically a member of the University of Westminster Students’ Union (UWSU) – an independent organisation that is run by students, for students to represent students. The Student Union has its own Smoke Media and a range of societies that we strongly encourage you to get involved in.
Students in the fABE have set up some hugely successful societies in Architecture, Property and Construction so please check these out, join them and get involved! They will provide you with an opportunity to develop your academic and professional interests, strengthen your teamwork skills and have a lot of fun.
The Faculty enjoys working with the student societies help provide you with a great experience during you time at the University. Contact them to find out more at http://www.uwsu.com/societies-2/
