Funding for Postgraduate Studies

 

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is now calling for applications from students of architecture for the RIBA AHR Stephen Williams Scholarship and the RIBA Wren Insurance Association Scholarships.

The RIBA Wren Insurance Association Scholarships were established in March 2013 followed a generous donation by The Wren Insurance Association Limited. The five scholarships, each worth £5,000, aim to support outstanding Part 2 students who have the potential to make a significant contribution in the field of architecture.

 

Applicants must:

  • have graduated from a Part 1 programme validated by the RIBA in the UK

AND

  • at the time of application, must be enrolled in an RIBA-validated Part 2 professional qualification course in the UK, and will be starting the final year in September 2016.

The RIBA AHR Stephen Williams Scholarship is also worth £5,000 and will support one student for a period of postgraduate studies of up to 12 months in the UK or abroad. The winning applicant will be given the opportunity of mentoring from a senior member of AHR Architects for the duration of the scholarship period.

 

Applicants must:

  • have graduated from a Part 1 programme validated by the RIBA in the UK

AND

At the time of application, students must either:

  • be enrolled in, or have been granted a placement offer for, an RIBA-validated Part 2 professional qualification in the UK or abroad

OR

  • be enrolled, or have been granted a placement offer, in a Masters course (non-RIBA Part 2) related to architecture, at a university department that also offers courses validated by the RIBA in the UK or abroad

Travel Scholarships

Don’t forget that the deadline for the RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship is Friday 22 April 2016.

 

Hardship Funds

The RIBA Student Hardship Funds still have funds remaining for 2015/16; applications are accepted throughout the academic year.

Module Registration 2016/7

Online module registration opens on the 30th March and closes on the 21st April.

 

If you are a UG Tourism student you will be able to access the online module registration screen to choose your option modules from the 30th March using the following link which is also available on your SRS Web e:vision portal:

https://srs21live.wmin.ac.uk/urd/sits.urd/run/SIW_LGN

 

All other UG courses only have core modules and these will be added for you in the next few months – you do not need to do anything further.

 

PG courses are currently being updated and core modules will also be added shortly.  Where you have option modules you will be contacted by your Programme Administrator when option module registration is available for your course.

ABE Registry Opening Hours; Tuesday 29th March 2016

On Tuesday 29th March the ABE Registry will be closed 15:00-16:00 for staff development.

The Registry will be open as usual between 10:00-15:00 and 16:00-18:00 and the coursework and correspondence lobby is unaffected.

Speaker: Jim Carlberg, Recruitment and Marketing Outreach Officer.

12.30–1.15pm – Not just for cat videos: Using YouTube in your career
Rowan Ellis shares her experiences with using YouTube and online video in her professional work, as well as some tips and ideas for you to do the same.

1.15–2pm – Preparing for job applications and interviews: do your research!
This session will show you a range of resources to help you in your job hunt, so you know which companies to target and can head into an interview prepared. Speakers: Ellie Murphy & Sara Goddard, Academic Liaison Librarians for Business.

Eligible students have now received invitations to complete Evaluations for Semester 2 modules.

These surveys are only ten questions long and should take approximately three to five minutes to complete; Lecturers will be encouraging this during class.

The Provisional Exam Timetable for May 2016 has now been released.

Please check that your exams do not clash and that all of your exams are listed on the timetable. A clash is two exams that you are sitting which have been timetabled for the same day and time. If you notice a clash or that any of your exams are missing from the timetable please email the ABE Registry at aberegistry@westminster.ac.uk
