Welcome to the University of Westminster
Congratulations on joining the Faculty of Media, Arts and Design. You’re about to embark on an exciting and demanding ad/venture with us – in a vibrant and inspiring environment. We aim to offer you an aspirational learning experience that resonates with the professional worlds you plan to enter in your future careers. In addition to following your course of study you’ll have many opportunities to exchange and collaborate with students from other disciplines and probe and expand your creative, critical and entrepreneurial horizon and skills. My colleagues and I will do all we can to ensure that your time with us will be stimulating and fulfilling.
During Orientation week we have arranged a number of activities to help you settle in and prepare for your time with us before you start your programme of study and the formal learning weeks. This will include familiarising you with the campus, and our community of staff and students, with the people you will be working with directly and with your workspaces, facilities and support services. Our welcome meetings will introduce you to your course cluster and Course Leader, to colleagues from Student Affairs and to the Faculty. You will also each be assigned a student mentor from your course, who will all be able to offer advice and guidance on the support available to you during your studies.
Course teams have planned outings, cultural events, screenings, music gigs, shared projects and social gatherings for this week so that you’ll get to know us all and, even more importantly, make friends and exchange ideas with students from across the Faculty.
Best wishes and welcome to University life. We look forward to seeing you in September.
Professor Kerstin Mey
Dean of Faculty
