The students on  International Development Management MA  programme recently participated in a United Nations forum held in London as part of their learning activities. The following are the excerpts and major highlights of the event:
The keynote speech was delivered by the UN Under- Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Baroness Valery Amos, and this was followed by a panel discussion, which was led by the veteran TV presenter- Mr. Jon Snow.

The next stage of the session was characterised by interactive discussions, where the students had the opportunity to engage with top field practitioners and United Nations experts in series of course-related topics, including: issues of nuclear security, disaster risk management, food poverty, micro finance and gender inequality.

The event concluded with a key note interview led by Sir Jeremy Greenstock with the former president of Slovenia and former UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs HE Danilo Turk.

The event availed the students with unique opportunities for networking and exploring practical issues with field practitioners and development experts. The course team is now getting ready to visit the UN office in Geneva for another round of the forum.

The pictures attached show series of rigorous preparations that preceded the even together with the student cohort on the programme.
