Use accessible font size and colour<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>People with dyslexia often see text merge or distort. For people who have dyslexia\u00a0or impaired vision, reduce the reading load.<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">&#8211; Use dark text on a white or off-white background.<br \/>&#8211; Use familiar sans serif fonts, such as Arial, Calibri or Verdana.<br \/>&#8211; Avoid using all capital letters and excessive italics or\u00a0 underlines.<br \/>&#8211; Include ample white space between sentences and paragraphs.<br \/>&#8211; Use a larger font size (18pt or larger) where possible.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333399\"><strong>4. Add alt text to visuals<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>Add alt text to all <strong>pictures, screenshots, videos, charts, shapes and graphics<\/strong> so that\u00a0screen readers can read the text to describe the image to users who cannot see it.<\/p><p><strong>To add alt text to an image, do the following:<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">1. It\u2019s good practice\u00a0to review the generated alt texts and edit if the description is not helpful.<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">1. Right-click an image, and then select<strong> Edit Alt Text<\/strong> (opens the <strong>Alt Text<\/strong> pane).<br \/>2. In the <strong>Alt Text<\/strong> pane, review the description in the text box and choose from one\u00a0of the actions below:<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 60px\">a. To accept the suggested text, close the Alt Text pane and return to the\u00a0PowerPoint slide.<br \/>b. To change the suggested alt text, type your preferred text in the box.\u00a0Once you&#8217;re done, close the <strong>Alt Text<\/strong> pane.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333399\"><strong>6. This is the\u00a0hyperlink text. If necessary, change the hyperlink text.<br \/>3. In the <strong>Address<\/strong> box, enter the URL address for the hyperlink.<br \/>4. To apply the changes, select <strong>\u2018insert\u2019<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333399\"><strong>8. For all other versions of PowerPoint closed captions\u00a0or subtitles must be encoded into the video before the video is inserted into PowerPoint.<\/p><p><strong>Create Closed captions by following the steps below:<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">1. Prepare a text-based caption file with a .vtt filename extension before adding\u00a0captions. For instructions on how to create the caption file, see Create closed\u00a0captions for a video.<br \/>2. In PowerPoint, in the Normal view, open the slide that has the video that you want\u00a0to add captions to.<br \/>3. Select the video on the slide.<br \/>4. Select the file and then\u00a0click Insert.<br \/>6. If you need to add another caption file, just repeat the process.<br \/>7. Play the video and check that the captions appear correctly.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #333399\"><strong>Remove closed captions from a video<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>If you need to edit a closed caption file that is inserted in a video in PowerPoint, first\u00a0remove the file, modify it, and then add it back to the video.
