With your experience supporting people who have SEN, complex health needs or disabilities, volunteering with the Tower Hamlets Befriending Service may be just the challenge you are looking for.
With your enthusiastic, can-do, team attitude and willingness to learn, you will take your skills out of their comfort zone. Through your patience, humour and care, you will discover the joy of nurturing small achievements, creating new connections or triggering life changing moments.
You’ll be part of a team of volunteers working with children and young people across Tower Hamlets. Your support will make all the difference. With you by their side, they will be able to make choices, enjoy new experiences, meet new people and, above all, have a fantastic time in their community. 
Sense’s life-changing short breaks
Sense is a national charity that supports people who are deafblind, have sensory impairments or complex needs, to enjoy more independent lives. Our expertise in supporting individuals with communication needs benefits people of all ages, as well as their families and carers.
You’ll be joining a diverse team and network of people with a real passion for enabling individuals to get the most from their befriending sessions. As a volunteer, you will receive specialist training and support before starting sessions with your buddy. You’ll also initially have supervised sessions to make sure we’re providing the best service possible for our young people.
