The initial project was an initiative by <strong>Dr <\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000\"><a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"http:\/\/farhangmorady.net\/\"><strong>Farhang Morady<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to build a link between the University, local communities and international partners in 2012. With very limited funding, the\u00a0 International Community\u00a0 Project (ICP)\u00a0engaged students in Politics and International Relations. ICP developed the foundation for the Democratic Education Network.<\/span><\/h6><h6 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">In\u00a0 2016,\u00a0 the\u00a0 Quintin\u00a0 Hogg Trust\u00a0 (QHT) provided substantial funds for DEN to manage a growing number of projects. \u00a0In 2019, DEN was a runner-up for the Students\u2019 Experience Award at the prestigious\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/education\/2019\/apr\/10\/student-experience-award-winner-and-runners-up\">Guardian University Awards<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h6><h6 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"background: transparent;color: #0e101a;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\" data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In 2022,\u00a0<\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/advance-he.ac.uk\/news-and-views\/ntfs-2022-inclusive-education-through-community-building-and-student-empowerment\">Advance HE made Dr Farhang Morady a National Teaching Fellow<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"background: transparent;color: #0e101a;margin-top: 0pt;margin-bottom: 0pt\" data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> for his outstanding impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession in Higher Education.<\/span><\/h6><h6 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\">In May 2024, DEN received another award from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/den\/news-views\/\">City and Islington College<\/a><\/strong> in London, a testament to the exceptional collaboration between our team and the college.<\/span><\/h6><p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, We have meticulously incorporated DEN&#8217;s innovative teaching method and approach into various modules, encompassing areas such as enhancing employability skills, fostering community engagement, and promoting global awareness among students. Moreover, recognising the diverse academic backgrounds of our student body, we have developed two specialised modules tailored for students at the School of Social Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts. These modules aim to accommodate the increasing number of students from various disciplines and to positively influence different areas within the University, ultimately enriching the academic
