This historic moment, officially announced on August 15, 1945, was celebrated worldwide as a triumph of peace. The surrender ended years of conflict, reshaping global relations and paving the way for post-war recovery and rebuilding.<\/h6>\n<h6 data-start=\"88\" data-end=\"376\">The University of Westminster will host a symposium on Tuesday, 6 May 2025, titled <em data-start=\"171\" data-end=\"223\">&#8220;Reflecting on VJ Day: UK\u2013Japan Pathways to Peace&#8221;<\/em>, to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. The event will explore the enduring impact of VJ Day on peacebuilding and development between the UK and Japan.<\/h6>\n<h6 data-start=\"378\" data-end=\"620\">Held at Portland Hall, the symposium will feature a rich programme of academic panels, public dialogues, a musical performance, and a traditional tea ceremony \u2014 all designed to foster intercultural understanding and promote sustainable peace.&nbsp;<\/h6>\n<h6 data-start=\"378\" data-end=\"620\">The event will also highlight the contributions of students actively preparing for the symposium through the DEN network, including&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/insidewestminster.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>writing and reviewing blogs<\/b>&nbsp;<\/a>in collaboration with academics over several weeks.
