The Heihe Memorial Hall of Overseas Chinese in Russia, situated in the city of Heihe, Heilongjiang Province of China, is a provincial heritage site located at the residence of the former Tongji Pawnshop. It stands as the only memorial hall in China dedicated to the comprehensive portrayal and commemoration of the history of the Chinese diaspora in Russia and the experiences of Chinese students who studied in Russia and the former Soviet Union. The museum emphasizes the deep emotional attachment of the Chinese in Russia to their hometowns in China and the important roles they have played in bridging the Chinese and Russian societies.<\/p>

The event is jointly hosted by HOMELandS<\/a> (Hub On Migration, Exile, Languages and Spaces) at the University of Westminster and the Chinese Heritage Centre<\/a> of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. It is organised as part of the \u2018Global Diasporic Chinese Museums Network Initiative<\/a>\u2019 project funded by AHRC.<\/p>

A<\/strong>b<\/strong>out the speaker<\/strong>:<\/p>

Chu Dan is the director and research associate of the Heihe Memorial Hall of Overseas Chinese in Russia, a member of the Heihe committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Social Education Special Committee of the Chinese Museum Association, and member of Heilongjiang Provincial Heitage and Museum Association Council. Her primary research areas include the history of Sino-Russian relations, the developmental history of Aihui, and the folk customs of Aihui. She has served as the editor of three books, co-editor of four books, and has published more than 50 academic papers and historical research articles.<\/p>
