EDI Training Resources
The self-study materials are designed to support your ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as an English language teacher. They aim to deepen your understanding of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and to encourage reflective, context-sensitive teaching practices. The materials are suitable for both pre-service and in-service teachers and are intended to be completed independently, at your own pace. To gain the greatest benefit, please complete the sessions in sequence:
Session 1 → Session 2 → Session 3 → Session 4
Each session builds on the previous one, gradually developing your deeper awareness of EDI in English language teaching. You are encouraged to complete the materials at your own pace. Therefore, please take time to pause, reflect, and revisit content where necessary. Deep engagement is more valuable than speed!
Each session consists of two interconnected components, which you should use together:
- A PowerPoint presentation (PPT)
- A Self-Study Guide
The self-study guide will:
- Direct you to specific slides in the PPT
- Guide you through key readings and reflection points
- Ask you to complete activities and reflective tasks
- Provide links to additional readings and resources
How to Work Through a Session
The guide will indicate which PPT slides to open and what to focus on. Read the slides attentively and pause to reflect on the ideas presented. Links to further readings are provided throughout the guide. These may require time to read and digest. You are encouraged to read thoughtfully rather than quickly and consider how the ideas connect to your own teaching context and experiences. To support reflection and professional learning, you are invited to do the tasks. Remember that there are no fixed or “correct” answers and sample answers are provided as possible perspectives. They may align with, differ from, or extend your own thinking. Use them to support reflection rather than to evaluate your responses.
Participation in EDI Discussion Threads
In addition to the self-study materials, you are strongly encouraged to take an active part in the EDI discussion threads, which provide an opportunity to:
- Share reflections from the self-study tasks
- Exchange perspectives with other pre-service and in-service teachers from Turkmenistan and Tajikistan
- Learn from diverse experiences and contexts
- Ask questions and respond to others’ ideas
Your contributions are a valuable part of the learning process and help create a supportive professional learning community. Because these materials are intended to support awareness-raising, critical reflection, and the development of inclusive teaching practices, your professional experiences and perspectives are central to this process. Take your time, engage openly with the materials and discussions, and use this self-study journey to support your ongoing professional development.
