About the AELLCA Project

The British Council’s Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) programme is a major initiative aimed at strengthening English language teacher education and professional development across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

By working in partnership with local governments and organisations, the programme supports efforts to enhance the quality of education and promote inclusivity both nationally and regionally.

AELLCA is funded by the UK government through UK International Development and forms part of the Accelerating Education Attainment for Resilience – Central Asia (AEAR-CA) initiative. The programme is designed to improve teacher expertise, uphold education quality standards, and advance English language learning, aligning with the national education reform priorities of all five countries.

Through the integration of UK expertise and local knowledge, the British Council is driving significant improvements in teaching methods and student learning outcomes.
