Going beyond typically disciplinary boundaries is utterly essential to research that has liberation at its core and Black Studies provides a blueprint for doing that vital work. The talk will explore the\u00a0 radical possibilities of going beyond your discipline and breaking down the walls of the ivory tower.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcu.ac.uk\/social-sciences\/about-us\/staff\/criminology-and-sociology\/kehinde-andrews\">Kehinde Andrews<\/a><\/span> is Professor of Black Studies at <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcu.ac.uk\/social-sciences\">Birmingham City University<\/a><\/span>. His latest book is <em>The New Age of Empire: How Racism and Colonialism Still Rule the World <\/em>published by Penguin Allen Lane in 2021. He also wrote <em>Black to Black: Retelling Black Radicalism for the 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century <\/em>and <em>Resisting Racism: Race, Inequality and the Black Supplementary School Movement<\/em>\u00a0 and is editor of the <em>Blackness in Britain <\/em>book series with Bloomsbury. Kehinde has written opinions pieces for outlets including the Guardian, Independent, Washington Post and CNN.\u00a0 He is founder of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blackunity.org.uk\/\">Harambee<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blackunity.org.uk\">Organisation of Black Unity<\/a><\/span>; and editor-in-chief of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/make-it-plain.org\/\">Make it Plain<\/a>.<\/span><\/p><p>All are welcome.
