We are delighted that the Doctoral Dialogues<\/em> podcast series will return online for the Graduate School Festival 2024: Connections, Reflections, Intersections<\/em>.<\/p>

Led and hosted by PhD researcher Megan Carnrite, Doctoral Dialogues <\/em>features pre-recorded conversations between doctoral researchers based across the University of Westminster. Megan Carnrite is a doctoral researcher at the Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM) at the University of Westminster. Her art practice and research focus on cameraless analogue photography and its relationship to the body. In addition to making and exhibiting her artwork, Megan has contributed to exhibitions as a curator and researcher, and has worked as an educator both in higher education and museums. Before researching at CREAM, she received advanced degrees in art practice and art history.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Margaret Go is a Filipino-Chinese doctoral researcher in Politics at the School of Social Sciences, University of Westminster, London. Her project looks at the interplay of interpretations and representations of the concept of \u201cChina\u2019s Rise\u201d in the context of United States foreign policy. She delves into the tendency to categorise debate on China\u2019s rise as peaceful or as a threat. Her research seeks to transcend this duality by going beyond military or economic explanations as foreign policy outcomes, which in reality are more nuanced and complex than that.<\/span><\/p>

Prior to this, Margaret earned her MSc (Hons) in International Relations in the United Kingdom, MA in International Business Management in Singapore, and BA in International Trade and Economics in China. She worked as a speechwriter and as an analyst at the Office of the President of the Philippines. It was from such lived experience that she became interested in exploring the differing narratives that effect foreign policy outcomes. She volunteers as a decolonial tour guide around London SOHO Chinatown to show a different perspective on how history has been made and constructed, by giving a holistic understanding of the role the United Kingdom has played in shaping our worldview and in upholding stereotypical beliefs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Jess Porritt is a doctoral researcher and Visiting Lecturer in the Tourism and Events Department at the University of Westminster. Jess\u2019s research examines\u00a0transformational experience design and inclusion in leisure environments focussing specifically on marathons and ultra-marathons. She is also a member of the Ultra-Running Research Network. Prior to her PhD Jess was an event manager in a range of major central London venues and studied an MA in Event Management and Event Design at the University of Westminster.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

(Dmitri) Hui Ken Chong completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours)(Architecture) from Taylor\u2019s University, Malaysia and a MArch Architecture (RIBA Part 2) from University of Plymouth. His interests in migration and refugeeness are informed by his positionality as a migrant from the Global South and as part of a historically stateless ethnic group. The research methodologies he uses include ethnography and interviews to better understand complex social issues from people with lived experiences.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Kaigan Denee\u00a0Carrie\u00a0holds a BSc with first class honours in Policing & Security and a Masters by Research in Criminology & Sociology. Her\u00a0 research involved looking at prison officer training in Scotland and Finland.
