\u201cA true multidisciplinary bridge bringing applied Machine Learning to your domain where maths and programming are forbidden. Only visuals, imagination and common sense are allowed.\u201d<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

We are pleased to announce this free<\/strong> course taking place 28-30 October<\/strong>, especially designed for those with little or no programming experience from all disciplines (life and social sciences, law and humanities, business, architecture, media and design, etc.) who want to gain a hands-on understanding and experience of Machine Learning.<\/p>\n

The course is available to ALL staff<\/strong> and Post-Graduate students<\/strong> so please forward this announcement to your PG students and encourage them to register<\/a> ASAP as places are limited<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Researching under COVID-19_ Practical and ethical issues<\/a><\/h5>\n
A virtual conference for staff and postgraduate students at the University of Westminster<\/strong><\/em><\/h5>\n

The conference is open to any member of UoW, from all disciplines and at all career stages (including postgraduate students). The conference will begin with a welcome from our Vice Chancellor, introductions by Dana Rosenfeld and Nina Smyth, a brief presentation on safety and security in online research, and a plenary address by a bioethicist. The plenary will be followed by online panels, organised by theme, where those with accepted abstracts will give short presentations and \u2018attendees\u2019 may ask questions. We will reconvene to hear a short presentation by one of university\u2019s grants officers on the changing funding landscape given COVID-19, and for a second plenary before closing.<\/p>\n

Publishing interdisciplinary health and wellbeing research: Pitfalls and opportunies<\/h5>\n
A virtual workshop for PhD students and early career researchers at the University of Westminster<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/h5>\n

Health and wellbeing research is increasingly addressed by integrating a range of research methodologies, perspectives and disciplines. In December 2019, the University of Westminster\u2019s Health Innovation Ecosystem and the University\u2019s Health Innovation and Wellbeing Research Community co-hosted a PhD and early-career researcher event to facilitate, encourage and support cross-disciplinary conversations about health and wellbeing research. As several attendees requested a workshop or seminar about publishing interdisciplinary health-related research, we are holding a virtual workshop on how to best write up health-related research for submission to interdisciplinary journals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our external speaker, Professor Paul Higgs (University College London), editor of the interdisciplinary journal Social Theory and Health, will shed light on publishing interdisciplinary health and wellbeing research from an editor\u2019s perspective. Dr. Dana Rosenfeld will discuss her own experience with writing and publishing interdisciplinary health and wellbeing research. Both speakers will answer questions from the \u2018audience\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event will be held via BB collaborate, and the link to join is in the Eventbrite event.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event will be introduced by Peter Bonfield, our Vice Chancellor, and will include a plenary address by Nigel Edwards (Chief Executive, Nuffield Trust). We will end with a drinks and canap\u00e9s reception and networking. We hope you will attend to learn more about our work and about opportunities to work with us and our external partners.<\/p>\n
