{"id":297,"date":"2024-02-29T14:19:48","date_gmt":"2024-02-29T14:19:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/hellohumanities\/?p=297"},"modified":"2024-02-29T14:19:48","modified_gmt":"2024-02-29T14:19:48","slug":"exploring-the-language-of-conflict-interpreting-at-the-uni-of-westminsters-mock-conference-on-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/hellohumanities\/exploring-the-language-of-conflict-interpreting-at-the-uni-of-westminsters-mock-conference-on-war\/","title":{"rendered":"Exploring the Language of Conflict: Interpreting at the Uni of Westminster&#8217;s Mock Conference on War"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Tuesday 27th February, students on the MA in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Westminster took part in a mock conference on Humanitarian crisis in conflict zones.<br><br>This mock conference, centred on the complex subject of war, provided an invaluable opportunity for students to hone their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=simultaneous&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7168643706311450624\">#simultaneous<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=consecutive&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7168643706311450624\">#consecutive<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=interpreting&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7168643706311450624\">#interpreting<\/a>\u00a0skills in a controlled and supportive environment. The specialised classroom at the university served as the backdrop for the event.<br>The conference aimed to simulate the challenges interpreters might face in real-world interpretation related to war and conflict.
