I’m Olivia Nzomo, currently studying for an LLM in Entertainment Law at the University of Westminster. I’m also a practising Barrister from Kenya, and I’ve always been really interested in how law connects with the creative industries—especially when it comes to protecting and supporting artists. Entertainment law stood out to me because of its real impact in creating structured, supportive spaces for creatives. I’m hoping to take everything I learn here in the UK—both in and out of the classroom—and use it to help bridge gaps in Kenya’s entertainment industry. Living and studying in London has been such an amazing experience thus far. It’s a diverse, vibrant city where you get to meet people from all over the world, and there’s always something new to explore. Outside of my studies, I love singing (I’m always down for a good musical or concert), travelling, playing padel, and hitting the gym. I’m really excited to be part of the University of Westminster students’ blog and to share my journey, experiences, and a bit of London life through my lens.

LinkedIn: Olivia Nzomo

Yamon Phu Kyaw

Hometown: Yangon, Myanmar
Programme: Master of Architecture (MArch) (RIBA pt II)
Graduation year: 2026

My name is Yamon Phu Kyaw, and I am an international student from Myanmar studying MArch Architecture at the University of Westminster in London. My name is Sara Allami, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in International Finance and Banking at the University of Westminster. Originally from Morocco, moving abroad has allowed me to experience new cultures, meet inspiring people, and grow both academically and personally. My academic interests focus on finance, investment analysis, and financial technology. I have gained practical experience through internships in banking and financial advisory, where I developed strong analytical and financial modelling skills. I am also passionate about entrepreneurship and previously launched a small jewellery business, which taught me valuable lessons about business management and creativity. Beyond academics, I enjoy public speaking, networking, and working on initiatives that help students explore international opportunities. I am particularly interested in the future of finance and hope to pursue the CFA qualification while building a career in investment and financial advisory. In my free time, I enjoy playing Padel, discovering new cuisines, and connecting with people from different backgrounds. I’m excited to continue learning, sharing experiences, and making the most of my student journey in London.

LinkedIn: Sara Allami

Sveva Cittadini

Hometown: Monza, Italy
Programme: Fine Art Mixed Media BA Honours
Graduation year: 2028

Hello everyone, I’m Sveva! I’m a 20-year-old student from Mexico City. I am currently starting my first year at UoW on the BSc Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience course, progressing from my foundation year at KIC London. Before moving here in December 2024, I lived my whole life in Mexico City, with a deep interest in music, acting, film and science. I’ve been playing the piano and singing since age 3, and have always had a passion for the arts, maths and physics. Since middle school, I’ve juggled my time between academic tasks, which I do often enjoy, while still attending to my artistic interests. Since moving to London, this juggling has coexisted with the adaptation it takes to live alone in a different culture, let alone a different continent, while taking advantage of all the opportunities that come with living in such an amazing city. I hope to reach people who are or will be going through similar experiences as mine, writing as I learn through the beautiful things that these following years might offer.

Instagram: @queridaflormia

Aashreya Chauhan

Hometown: Udaipur, India
Programme: Global Trade and Business BA Honours
Graduation year: 2025

Hi! I’m eager to hone my skills at UoW and hopefully share helpful experiences through the International Student Blog.

Melissa Ramos Peimbert

Hometown: Culiacan, Mexico
Programme: Digital Business MSc
Graduation year: 2024

My name is Melissa. At the moment, I’m enjoying what this vibrant city has to offer, from top-notch museums, captivating theatre, historic architecture, parks with stunning views, incredibly diverse gastronomy, and so much more! While the city is undeniably impressive, what truly lights up my days in London and at UoW is the incredible diversity of people I’ve had the privilege to meet. It is my first time here in London, and it has been fascinating for me as I have had the chance to meet different people from diverse cultures and backgrounds both on campus and in the city. Writing for me had always been only a hobby, until after my undergraduate studies, my interest in writing heightened and I decided to pursue it as a career. This dream materialised when I was awarded the British Council Great Scholarship Ghana award for 2023 by the University of Westminster for this MA Creative Writing course. One would ask, however, “Why write the city and not general writing?” Well, I love to write about people and communities, their ways of life and what sets them apart from others, and what better way can I start this career, than to write about one of the most intriguing cities in the world – London. I love to read as a hobby, but I would also love to develop my desire for painting, I guess I was just made for the Arts (smiles). Fasten your seatbelts as I’m going to share every bit of this journey with you, first as a student at the University of Westminster and then as an international student in the bustling city of London, through this creative space.

Juliette Boutard

Hometown: Lyon, France
Programme: Translation and Interpreting MA
Graduation year: 2024

Hi everyone! My name is Juliette and I am an international student at the University of Westminster studying a 1-year Translation and Interpreting MA in English and French. I come from Lyon, France, where I studied a BA in foreign languages (English, Spanish, and Arabic) before I decided to move to London last year. I worked as a French teaching assistant for almost a year, and staying in the UK longer seemed like a good plan! So here I am, studying at uni and enjoying life in London. I enjoy cycling, walking, discovering parks, museums and cosy cafés, listening to music, cooking, and learning about the world and other cultures (especially when foreign languages are involved!). I hope that my articles on this blog can help students, especially international ones, to find their way here in London and at the University of Westminster. Best of luck on your journey! 🙂

Mar Tomas Rocha

Hometown: Alicante, Spain
Programme: International Business BA Honours
Graduation year: 2023

Hello everyone! I then moved to Lancaster (Northwest England) to complete my bachelor’s degree in marketing and now here I am in London! I am someone who believes that doing nothing is the worst thing I can do and if you’re living in London, finding things to do is the last thing you have to worry about! From candle making to pottery class, salsa classes, Model UN, fashion shows you name it… everything you can think of will be there waiting for you. And because I am at my happiest when I’m learning new things, helping people, and developing new skills, I always look for volunteering opportunities within the community. My latest volunteering experience includes joining the Orleans House Gallery as a Digital marketeer. I love meeting people and exploring different cultures, and this is why I joined the student ambassador team and the International Students Blog here at Westminster and I’m loving it. I think this is one of the things I will miss the most once I graduate. Anyways, I’m always down to connect and give you more insight into student life and the course through my blog. And this year, I was delighted when the British Council and the University of Westminster offered me the GREAT scholarship to pursue my second Master’s program in Linguistics and TESOL. On a serious note, I am pursuing MA Professional Writing at the University of Westminster. Writing is a means of catharsis to me; I write so I can stay sane and escape reality. Apart from this, I am a bonafide fashion enthusiast- I love clothes, I love people who dress up well, and I am obsessed with fashion. What excites me about being one of the international student bloggers is the fact that the university has provided a platform for people like me to speak the truth and share honest experiences. I was born and raised in Germany but have my roots in Ghana. Through traveling and living in different places in Europe, visiting Africa multiple times, and having the opportunity to live in southeast Asia for three months, I decided to study social work for my undergraduate degree and work with the “outcast”, the homeless, and the widows. Acquiring the skills of a social worker has widened my lens from an individual focus to a global agenda: I want to realize their plea against injustice in the social system and carry out their interests globally to facilitate and advocate the changes they cry out for. With it, I’m currently doing my master’s in International Relations at the University of Westminster to become a Diplomat for Germany. Some of my passions are: My Christian faith (!), travelling, reading, teaching, singing, writing, and dancing. It’s surely been a dream to study in the big city of London and there is just so much to see and explore. I’m looking forward to sharing my (political) journey with all the ins and outs of living in London as an international student.

Instagram: joannaaa.o

Hira Mohsin

Hometown: Singapore
Programme: MA International Liaison and Communication
Graduation year: 2023

Hey everyone, I am a first-year student on the MA International Liaison and Communication course at the University of Westminster. Other than the aforementioned passion for creative writing, I joined the International Student Blog team for the opportunities to grow up in networking and interpersonal skills, and because I love, in my little way, to help people throughout my personal thoughts and experiences, and in fact this is the way I made some of my best friends at University, from my time on a similar project with Italian agencies helping young people to study abroad.

Instagram: @dennis_montagano

zz

xx

Binxin Luo

Hometown: Hubei, China
Programme: MA Marketing Communications
Graduation year: 2022

My name is Binxin, and I am currently a student in the MA Marketing Communications course at the University of Westminster Business School. From Harry Potter to Now You See Me in the movies, from King’s Cross Railway Station to Royal Greenwich Observatory, the historical buildings everywhere make me feel the depth of culture in this place. This also coincides with China, which has a long history in the East. While experiencing the different cultural differences, it also made me interested in discovering every street of the city. As an arithmophobia, I took the bold decision to study Finance and Accounting for my MSc, I knew it would be tough, but I decided to kill my phobia of numbers. It has been almost a year since I embarked on this journey and it has been nothing but amazing. The University of Westminster has opened me up to a lot of values that I will forever cherish. As an introvert black girl from Ghana, studying in London and at Westminster has given me the opportunity to meet and interact with people from diverse cultures around the globe. I enjoy going to the cinema in central London, the food, sitting on buses and trains and visiting my favourite tourist centre, the London eye which provides an amazing view of the beautiful city of London.
Always remember that ” Every great dream begins with a dreamer, always remember you have within you the strength, the patience and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world”
– Harriet Tubman

Catherine Kinuthia

Hometown: Nairobi, Kenya
Programme: International Relations & Security MA
Graduation year: 2020

Coming to study in London has been nothing short of amazing. I went on managing the PR & Marketing for a few events & CSR campaigns in Malaysia for 2.5 years before I returned back to work in Bangladesh. After 2 years working I realized that in order to reach my goal of becoming a successful marketing professional I needed to improve my managerial effectiveness in the increasingly digitized, automated and globalized field of marketing. This led me to enroll in the MA in Marketing Management course at the University of Westminster last year.
