This page aims to provide links to sites providing statistics relating to the construction industry. It is hoped that this page will provide links to information at the global level and for individual countries. It is very much in its early stages and I would welcome suggestions as to how this page might be developed and any links that might be included. For individual countries look on the A-Z.

These links were checked on 12 June 2014.

Annual Financial Statistics The annual financial statistics survey (AFS), previously published as the economic activity survey (EAS), contains estimates of financial data for a number of industries including construction. Quarterly Financial Statistics Provides statistics on turnover by industry.  Also selected income and expenditure items in construction. Selected building statistics of the private sector as reported by local government institutions This statistical release contains information derived from the building statistics survey covering a sample of local government institutions involved in the approval of building plans and in the final inspection of buildings completed for the private sector.  (Annual) Capital expenditure by the public sector Capital expenditure by the public sector indicates the distribution of capital expenditure by type of institution for new construction works, machinery, equipment and furniture, land and existing buildings and other fixed assets which include intangible, heritage and cultivated assets. (Annual) The Construction Industry Survey 2011 This statistical release contains financial results from the Large Sample Survey of the construction industry. (Published every 3 to 5 years) Billcost Billcost is a complete electronic estimating, scheduling and management system for the construction industry. It remains to this day the only construction estimating software to incorporate a full database of Material and Labour rates, all combined into powerful formulae to make estimating a breeze.  With the full set of management tools, Billcost takes the user from the initial estimating stage to project management with functions such as Cost Control, Material Orders, Profit Calculations, the issuing of Certificates, Project Scheduling, etc. It is possible to work from Plans or Bills of Quantities. This is available only on subscription. Merkel’s Builders’ Pricing and Management Manual Merkel’s is the standard reference publication for the construction industry when it comes to pricing a bill of quantities.  Merkel’s is designed to guide the estimator through the complex processes needed to determine the final rate of a construction or building project. This is only available on subscription. Statistics South Africa Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) conducts a monthly survey of metropolitan municipalities and large local municipalities on building plans passed and buildings completed for the private sector. The monthly survey collects building statistics, financed by the private sector, from metropolitan municipalities and large local municipalities and accounts for approximately 90% of the total value of buildings completed. An annual survey of the remaining municipalities is conducted regarding buildings completed. Results of the monthly survey are published together with combined data of the monthly and annual surveys.
