Climate change adaptation inquiry

The House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) launched an inquiry in August 2014 to examine progress on preparations in England for adapting to the impacts of climate change. The EAC inquiry asked for submissions covering a number of areas including the recommendations made by the Adaptation Sub-Committee’s reports; the structure, priorities and visions of the National Adaptation Programme and organisational progress on delivering priority actions to adapt. National adaptation policy processes in European countries 2014

Adapting to climate change has reached the political agenda in most European countries, according to the most comprehensive analysis of adaptation in Europe published to date. Extreme weather events and EU policies were the most common reasons for beginning to address adaptation. The survey brings together detailed responses from 30 European countries which are analysed in a new report from the European Environment Agency.

Helping ecosystems in Europe to adapt to climate change

This report summarises much of the work done by, and for, the Climate Change Group of the European Network of Heads of Nature Conservation Agencies (ENCA) between 2011 and 2013. The ENCA Climate Change Group is made up of experts in climate change and ecology from government conservation agencies across Europe. The aim is to further promote the integration of the findings of impacts and adaptation research into conservation practice, and help conservation practitioners learn from the experiences of colleagues dealing with similar conditions, issues, threats and opportunities in other parts of Europe.
