For my individual audio project, I intend to do a dramatised audiobook version of two of the stories in J.K Rowling’s “The Tales of Beedle the Bard”. The two short stories that I am most drawn towards are, “The wizard and the Hopping Pot” and “The Fountain of Fair Fortune”. I have picked these two in particular as I feel they will allow for the most interesting and complex audio stories, due to their range of characters, and various different audio elements.
In “The Wizard and the Hopping Pot”, there is cooking pot/cauldron that hops around, cry’s and wines like a donkey. I feel like this will give me the chance to create an entirely unique soundscape, and bring some of these magical elements to life. There are also a fair few voices that make appearances in the story, they are only brief but they make the piece more interesting, as it’s not just one or two voices over and over.
“The Fountain of Fair Fortune” has four main characters, as well as magical/mythical beings and a vast, interactive environment. Because of this, I think that I will be able to make the listener feel like they are going on the adventure with the characters, and that they are in the garden themselves.
