I am aiming to create a documentary style (15 minute piece) about my local football team – Wrexham through feature interviews, sound effects and music.
Short Synopsis
14 years since the relegation of Wrexham Football Club known as the dragons new Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny hope to turn the situation around. Formed in 1864, they are the oldest club in Wales and second oldest professional association football team in the world and fans demand Wrexham get back to the top level. Can Wrexham find success under the new Hollywood ownership?
Throughout the 15 minutes it will express the fans’ perspective of the club in the past 14 years such as the years after relegation, the revitalised feeling after the takeover and the gameday experience of the The Racecourse. Looking at the life as a young and old fan gives the potential to explore the contrast in life before and after the change in ownership. The programme will hear from the likes of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny as well as fans talking about key events throughout the clubs history.

Production Process
- PLAN BACKWARDS FROM THE WEEK OF DEADLINE AND CUT UP THE SCHEDULE INTO CHUNKS.
- DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO DO THE EDITING AND MIXING.
SUGGESTED SCHEDULE:
Week 12 – Final mix for deadline; written and social media elements
Weeks 10 & 11 – Almost final rough cuts; and recording (if there are links); mixing
Week 7-9 – Editing (and any final interviews/recording)
Weeks 4-6 – Research; contacting contributors; recording
Weeks 2-3 – Initial research; finessing idea; writing pitch
Week 1 – Listen, listen and then listen some more
What has been achieved so far?
So far I have achieved 3 minutes worth of audio that uses press conferences from Rob and Ryan’s just after buying the club and illustrating their ambitions. I have used archived audio to create a montage of the clubs history.
Things to do
Just keep working on editing. Record over the next 2 weeks gathering fans opinions before working on them and editing them into a montage.
