Notes for potential on air delivery
CUE: Everywhere we look online, we can find some iteration of a narrative of love. Be it in TV shows, movies (no matter the genre), or music. As someone who lives their life vicariously through the characters she sees on screen, Makee shares her personal point of view on the topic of relationships. These thoughts are further filtered through the lens of her favourite TV shows and movies, and emphasized with music and SFX, to really paint the picture of what goes on in her head.
IN: “Hello, I’m Makee…”
OUT: movie projector SFX running out
Back anno: If you relate to any of this or have your own moments you find in TV shows and movies that clearly describe what you feel, do let us know on Twitter and share your clips! Or, if you would like to be a lot more detailed, send us an email at makee.ogbon@yahoo.com

Long synopsis: Love is blank is an illustrative audio journal created to voice out the presenter’s thoughts on the experience of relationships. As someone who spends a lot of time watching TV shows and movies the presenter arguably been exposed to different narratives of love in almost everything. So what exactly are relationships like and what has my experience been so far in comparison to what I’ve seen online?
With a curated playlist, and a collection of sounds, TV show and movie clips the aim is to express the presenter’s thoughts on what they think they want in a relationship. The presenter also goes through what their experience has been so far. Each song has been chosen to both set the mood of what the presenter’s thoughts are and the lyrics further demonstrate their point. There are elements of expectation versus reality within the final piece.
This piece is an audio collage of the thoughts that goes through the presenter’s head when thinking about relationships.
Treatment
This piece will follow the style of a personalised audio journal. The presenter will introduce and explain the topic with a music bed to set the scene and mood. The music chosen will be carefully intentional and curated as the lyrics in the song further highlight the point the presenter is trying to make. TV show clips and sound effects will used within the piece to emphasise a point the presenter is making. As it will be created for Transmission Roundhouse, there will be a heavy influence of music within the piece. Therefore there will be moments of just music without the presenter, especially towards the end.
As the presenter is talking / narrating her experiences and thoughts on relationships, the first few TV show clips from Friends have been used to illustrate the expectations she has on what it’s like to be in the ideal relationship. The next set of TV show clips taken from The Good Place will be used to demonstrate the reality the presenter is facing.
This theme will be carried through the rest of the piece using clips from Dirty Dancing, as well as music from the movie itself. And finally at the end, the presenter will wrap up her thoughts using sound effects and music lyrics. Finally, transitional sound effects will be used in between the two sections when the presenter talks about TV shows and movies to indicate the change in subject matter.
The final piece should sound like a fusion between a podcast, a TV show, a movie, and a music radio show.
