- WEEK ONE
This is week one, introducing our lecturer mr Jeremy Mortimer,
Mr Jeremy firstly read through the module and told us the student what we should expect, all about audio drama, an insight of what recording audio is.
he then put us in groups to produce an audio drama come up with any drama to write, direct and record.
my group did scene in a hospital;
Characters; Doctor,Assistant,Doctor’s wife, doctor’s wife’s friend
Scene 1; the doctor coming out from an elevator and creating his staffs, then a short conversation with her assistance who was letting her know about a secret experiment which they are working on
scene 2; the doctor walked into office, her phone rang and her wife was letting her know about a promise she made earlier on to get a cake for their adopted son on his birthday,.suddenly her assistant interrupted the call
scene3; The doctors lets the wife know she has to hang up as there is an emergency, the assistant told her the experiment they been working on just got leaked and can spread and kill them all.they both started panicking and arguing about what solution should they take
scene4; the doctors wife was still on the phone ,pissed and was angry she lament to her friend who was with her that the doctor never take her promises serious, and she tired and the doctor won’t allow them list a therapist to help solve their miscommunication as she was talking she get a strange message that says ‘í love you’ and had so much missed calls. she tried calling back but no answer
and scene!!
this audio drama was acted by all girls so we had to make the doctor a lesbian couple to suit the recording.
I enjoyed playing as the doctors wife, because I have never ate a play or turned into a different sexuality I was fun and interesting see how recording are being put together
WEEK TWO
This is week two of audio drama. Jeremy sent out eight scripts to students to see an insight of what the audio drama look like. We were expected to read and did some example.
I had the chance to perform some acting script. it was overwhelming. After this we were put into groups, by balloting. After we went to decide what role each of my group will handle.

our script is Out of Bounds we are to recreate and edit scenes to produce an audio drama play
WEEK THREE
This week Jeremy introduced pre-production for the radio plays and different positions standing from the mic
they are five position
position 1; very close to the mic, to get internal voice/voice over
position 2; slightly close to the mic, the sound to be silent and obvious
position 3; loose to he mic, used for conversation between two people
position 4; Away from the mic, used to talk to a group of people
position 5; complete far away from the mic used when creating a shouting or a very distance voice which not always used
difference between a stereo mic and a monaural mic
a monaural mic has a single channel of sound that comes from a position whereas a stereo mic creates an illusion that a sound is multi directional which when it been heard from a speaker the sound differs through different distances, depths and direction just like in real world.
Week four
This week we are practicing a scene from Paul. I came a bit late but I got to read through and then we did practise. I join in the cast I played Peter and also joined the chatting voices. it was a bit overwhelming as we only thought we needed to making wording sounds but when the audio was played it sounded we were obviously saying rubbish, so we were supposed to actually say wordings. we retook the scene again and even brought more actors from the lectures to help to create that crowding voice discussion, after this I met with my group to plan on our scripts and discuss further on what we should do.
WEEK FIVE
For this week we had John Wakefield as a guest speaker to lecture and share some of his works, experiences and how to deal with sounds effects, audio recording. there was SFX that he showed us and played to us, some of his technique he used to implement effects into raw audio, he also assured us we can’t achieve everything in just post production, after this, we had a break then in the afternoon we got as a group to check out and try editing together which was some he has provided for us.
I found this very overwhelming as a first time user, I got the chance to know sound website I can go to for sound effect which Was www.freesound.org.
WEEK SIX
For week, it recording day for other group, I met with my group and to went through our script also to change some scenes words and edit what part wasn’t necessary. we also got to meet with Jeremy who spoke to us about the actors what we needed. we also my group decide to meet at 9.30 next Friday to practise with the actors.
WEEK SEVEN
Its recording day, although we were supposed to meet at 9.30, some of us were running late, I missed my trained and the next one was delayed. I made it 10 o clocked as I arrived, the actors were already practised lines from out of bounds and I got sit with my groups. after we carefully read the scenes. then we began to record. charity and Conner was giving instruction and directing scenes, I was noting down takes and scenes. I also was an extra in the cast as we needed one more actor.
it was a long recording day, we were very impressed with the actors as they were very brilliant and outstanding all patient.
we were happy with some do overs scenes we had to redo to get the best.
after recording all the scenes. we appreciated and thanked the actors for helping us achieve it, also I got to upload the takes and scene on our google drive group.
WEEK EIGHT
This week, Charity suggested we meet on a Tuesday with was inconvenient because I had to meet with a lecturer and plan my dissertation also on that day only her and Conner made it as we had other plans the day. but I got to decide to help out with music suitable for our recording, because I have no experience in editing audio.
WEEK NINE
Today I decided to research music and sounds for the audio edit. I read script and scene all over again and research sounds and picks ones accurate also music that is suitable for the edit. I wrote down free download sound and music sites for my team mates so they can easily copy and download sounds
