{"id":1639,"date":"2017-04-04T18:35:01","date_gmt":"2017-04-04T18:35:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westminsterradio.net\/?p=1639"},"modified":"2017-04-04T18:35:01","modified_gmt":"2017-04-04T18:35:01","slug":"stuart-armour-blog-post-w1602002","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/stuart-armour-blog-post-w1602002\/","title":{"rendered":"Stuart Armour Blog Post &#8211; W1602002"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center\">Plans to tackle knife crime in Harrow to be published in June by Mayor of London<\/h1>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1640\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1640\" style=\"width: 463px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1640 \" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2017\/04\/IMG_2598-300x225.jpg\" width=\"463\" height=\"348\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1640\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000\">Image: the scene at the most recent stabbing<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Great London Authority (GLA) member Navin Shah of Harrow and Brent, wrote a letter to the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan earlier in March, concerning the dramatic increase in knife crime fatalities in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">In the letter to Mr Khan, Navin Shah called for \u201c<em>swift action<\/em>\u201d to reduce knife crime in Harrow and London as a whole.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The latest stabbing which occurred outside Halifax bank on Wealdstone High Street opposite a recently closed police station was a fatality which took place on Monday 27<sup>th<\/sup> February. Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has responded to the letter by offering his \u201c<em>heartfelt condolences<\/em>\u201d to the families who have lost loved ones.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1642\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1642\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1642 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2017\/04\/shah1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Image: GLA Member Navin Shah\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1642\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Image: GLA Member Navin Shah<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Mr Khan also outlined on how he is going to tackle the issues which will be published in June. The key areas which will be looked at is tackling London gangs and cracking down on shops selling knifes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Mr Shah released a statement via his own website with his own views on the knife attacks in Harrow.
