{"id":4560,"date":"2018-03-30T23:57:03","date_gmt":"2018-03-30T23:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westminsterradio.net\/?p=4560"},"modified":"2018-03-30T23:57:03","modified_gmt":"2018-03-30T23:57:03","slug":"harrow-parks-remain-as-one-of-the-best-green-spaces-in-the-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/harrow-parks-remain-as-one-of-the-best-green-spaces-in-the-uk\/","title":{"rendered":"Harrow Park&#8217;s Remain as one of the BEST Green Spaces in the UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4561\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2018\/03\/IMG_0754-e1522440939821-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/>\u00a0<strong>Picture by Callum Reeve<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Harrow Recreation ground\u00a0amongst four other parks based in Harrow, have all been named as some of the best outdoor spaces in the UK with a wide range of facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Canons Park, Roxeth Recreation\u00a0Ground, Pinner Memorial Park and Kenton Recreation Ground were among a record-breaking 1,797 UK parks and green spaces that received the Green Flag Award.<\/p>\n<p>The Harrow Rec is just one example of the popular open spaces in Harrow where people regularly visit and this particular spot is one that has been highlighted over the years purely because of the great facilities and landscape.<\/p>\n<p>A local resident spoke with us and\u00a0said that it was \u201ca great space to come to\u201d and\u00a0reiterated that\u00a0\u201cthere\u2019s lots of open space for families\u201d<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-4560-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2018\/03\/Mini-Interview-Final-1.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2018\/03\/Mini-Interview-Final-1.mp3\">https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2018\/03\/Mini-Interview-Final-1.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>It has some great facilities such as a park, parking so quick and easy access as well as a\u00a0basketball court further down the fields. People of all ages visit the recreation centre to take time out to play\u00a0various\u00a0sports, meet up with friends\u00a0or just want\u00a0some time away from the\u00a0busy areas of London.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4563\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2018\/03\/IMG_0755-e1522442285656-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"396\" height=\"297\" \/><strong>Picture by Callum Reeve<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The green flag award is an international scheme that\u2019s been running for 3 decades now and is used to help recognise some of the best parks, maintaining the highest environmental standard.<\/p>\n<p>Graham Henson, Cabinet member for the environment said that &#8220;they were absolutely delighted to have received this award&#8221; He also gave a big thanks to all the volunteers and staff who help &#8220;keep the park maintained to a high standard&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Further\u00a0to this Harrow recreation ground is already looking set to win a green flag award again this year as it has done over the years.
