Manufacturers have to pay a levy on soft drinks exceeding the recommended allowance of sugar content.<\/p>\n<p>With different programs targeted at diverse groups of people, the domestic calorie consumption is hoped to cut down 20% by 2024.<\/p>\n<p>To answer the call of tackling the obesity crisis, the Harrow council has promoted similar schemes to encourage residents\u2019 healthier diet and lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>A program named \u2018Harrow Health Walks\u2019 has been promoted, along with cycling courses, parkrun activities and other referral programs to get more residents active.<\/p>\n<p>According to the official website of Harrow Health Walks program, around 300 people every month are already walking their way in Harrow.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4712\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4712\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-4712\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2018\/04\/IMG_4098-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4712\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Information about Harrow Health Walks program and Harrow parkrun posted \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<em>Taken by: Qilin Dou<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We spoke to local residents to see how they feel about what has the Harrow council promoted to combat the obesity problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecently they have improved some courts that are near to us, or in the process of doing that,\u201d said a local resident, Rebecca Arcan, \u201cbut I think they can still be further.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nathan Addington, a university student living in Harrow told us:<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-4710-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/wav\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2018\/04\/Nathan-Addington-1.wav?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2018\/04\/Nathan-Addington-1.wav\">https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2018\/04\/Nathan-Addington-1.wav<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Except for information and advices on being active, sports and fitness, the council has also posted some suggestions online about building a healthier diet. Residents are suggested to get a balanced diet, and to restrict the portion size of food.
