As it extends just over 45 miles and having a population of nine million, It\u2019s easily one of the biggest cities in the world.<\/p>\n<p>But, should it be at number one, or should people really know, how lonely it can be for students studying in one of the worlds biggest cities?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Student life is made up to be a mix of house parties, meeting new people, clubbing until the early<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>hours and maybe every now and then, studying . Although in reality, it\u2019s easy to feel lonely at university no matter what campus \/ city you are in.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201955,000 people from around the world completed the survey, making it the largest study of loneliness yet.\u2019 &#8211;<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>BBC\u2019s Loneliness Experiment on Valentine&#8217;s Day 2018<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6528\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2019\/04\/103602957_loneliness_lonelyoften_v3.png-300x240.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Almost half of UK students (46 per cent) admit to having feelings of loneliness during their time at university, and 37 per cent consider dropping out.\u2019 &#8211; The National Student<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There are many reasons why students can feel lonely at university in London. For people who study in a campus base university (Bath, Brighton, Exeter ect) you have a much higher likelihood of seeing people on the same campus around town \/ city your university is based in.<\/p>\n<p>However, for students in London, it\u2019s a very sparse and densely populated city. Meaning seeing a friend could cost you just under \u00a310 and a 40 minute journey every visit and of course over time this adds up, leading to people to eventually stop seeing each-other.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As London is one of the most expensive cities to live in, it\u2019s also hard to find an activity that\u2019s not too pricy and with students struggling enough as it is with money this doesn\u2019t help the case.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6529\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/radio\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2019\/04\/IMG_3938-e1555412900726-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/> Listen here &#8211;&gt;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/notpiersmorgan\/voice-recording1\/s-E3ToF\">Haydn gives his brief summary on studying in London.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Loneliness is just like any other emotion and it will come and go, there are things you can do to help with the feelings.
