School boys could use all the facilities of Regent Street, which provided an unconventional setting for a school.\u00a0 Many old boys remember starting the school day with an assembly in the cinema.<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-bb38113\" data-id=\"bb38113\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-11921e7f elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"11921e7f\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-6301d264\" data-id=\"6301d264\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7b942176 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7b942176\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"entity entity-paragraphs-item paragraphs-item-text-content col-sm-12 start end\"><div class=\"content\"><div class=\"\"><p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The name of the school was not consistently defined in this period.\u00a0 It was usually referred to as the Boys\u2019 Day School although its activities were often simply recorded in the Polytechnic Magazine as \u2018Quintinians\u2019. The first official name was conferred in 1946 when it was rechristened The Quintin School.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">During World War Two the School was evacuated to Minehead in Somerset.\u00a0 The central London location of the Poly meant that the threat of bombing was very real and the Queen\u2019s Hall across Regent Street was destroyed by bombs in 1941.\u00a0 In Minehead they shared the county school\u2019s premises and the boys lived both with families and in hostel accommodation.\u00a0 For city boys, living in the Somerset countryside was a unique and novel experience<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The School remained evacuated for the duration of the war and afterwards was unable to return to 309 Regent Street due to lack of space.\u00a0 The Poly Governors were unable to provide the school with the premises required by law and the school came under the direct control of the London County Council.\u00a0 In 1956 it moved to St John\u2019s Wood and in 1969 merged with the Kynaston Technical School to become the Quintin Kynaston School (now Harris Academy, St John&#8217;s Wood).<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"entity entity-paragraphs-item paragraphs-item-view col-sm-12 start end\"><div class=\"content\"><div class=\"view view-interview-by-topic view-id-interview_by_topic view-display-id-default view-dom-id-9500087accdcfb6cee55bcf47b5037ac\"><div class=\"view-header\">\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"view-content\"><div id=\"node-598491\" class=\"node node-interview node-promoted clearfix block-listing col-sm-3 start\"><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; He received a scholarship to the school having been nominated by the headmaster of his previous school.<\/p><p>In these extracts he discusses the school day and house competitions in the swimming Olympic Games.<\/p><p>For the first year at the school Lionel Price was based at 309 Regent Street. \u00a0However, when World War Two began the School was evacuated to Minehead in Somerset. \u00a0They
