{"id":1464,"date":"2022-03-28T09:16:15","date_gmt":"2022-03-28T09:16:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/researchoffice\/?p=1464"},"modified":"2022-03-28T09:23:33","modified_gmt":"2022-03-28T09:23:33","slug":"ukri-equality-diversity-and-inclusion-strategy-consultation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/researchoffice\/ukri-equality-diversity-and-inclusion-strategy-consultation\/","title":{"rendered":"UKRI Equality Diversity and Inclusion Strategy Consultation"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"1464\" class=\"elementor elementor-1464\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-fba82d1 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"fba82d1\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-57d58d4\" data-id=\"57d58d4\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f54d2ab elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f54d2ab\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>On 4<sup>th<\/sup> March, 30 colleagues from across the University met to discuss the implications of UKRI\u2019s new strategy, and to feed in to our institutional response to their call for consultation on the document.<\/p><p>UKRI\u2019s strategy is underpinned by their ambition to create a research and innovation system where:<\/p><ul><li>Everyone feels included, is heard, respected and able to be their real self<\/li><li>Different people, ideas, ways of thinking, skills and perspectives are valued<\/li><li>People and ideas thrive, are supported and encouraged<\/li><li>Everyone can participate in, contribute to, and benefit from, our investments in research and innovation<\/li><\/ul><p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/universityofwestminster-my.sharepoint.com\/:p:\/g\/personal\/meadj_westminster_ac_uk\/EfIV40gg5MdPtCwPzh2FhQYBMKHkdl7UBB-lL2HZGf-CUw?e=rBzt8z\">introductions to UKRI and to the strategy<\/a> from <a href=\"mailto:N.Haines@westminster.ac.uk\">Nicola Haines<\/a> (Head of R&amp;KE Office) and <a href=\"mailto:tsagarr@westminster.ac.uk\">Roza Tsagarousianou<\/a> (Diversity and Inclusion Research Community lead), we explored three of UKRI\u2019s strategic objectives:<\/p><ul><li>(Objective 1B) Fostering an inclusive and diverse research and innovation system, \u2018by everyone, for everyone\u2019<\/li><li>(Objective 2B) Advancing equality and inclusion through our investments and how we work<\/li><li>(Objective 4B) To develop approaches to monitor, measure and evaluate change<\/li><\/ul><p>Conversations at the workshop extended beyond UKRI and their new strategy, elucidating issues and barriers that should be taken forward internally. These thoughts will feed into the work of the Diversity and Inclusion Community and inform our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westminster.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/careers-at-westminster\/achievements-and-recognitions\/hr-excellence-in-research-award\">planning around improving research culture<\/a> as signatories to the Researcher Development Concordat, alongside insights captured from last year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/universityofwestminster-my.sharepoint.com\/:w:\/g\/personal\/meadj_westminster_ac_uk\/EdR0muppcWZDkQWW5IQI3DIBfwTq8c8WCapLv8_QUK8bXg?e=1A3uge\">Culture, Employment and Development in Academic Research Survey<\/a>.
