In other words, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of research integrity.<\/em><\/p><p><em>Many of us have an understanding of research integrity but building a culture of integrity grounded in confidence in the findings of research, and the environment in which research is carried out, involves a range of areas that some of us may not consider relevant. Research integrity means honesty, rigour, transparency and accountability, and these characteristics are embedded across our Research &amp; Knowledge Exchange activities. Built on the back of core <a href=\"https:\/\/ukrio.org\/new-guidance-research-ethics-support-and-review-in-research-organisations\/\">sector guidance<\/a> and factoring in our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westminster.ac.uk\/research\/research-governance\">Code of Practice Governing the Ethical Conduct of Research<\/a>, you can find more about the workplan in our Research Integrity <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westminster.ac.uk\/research\/research-governance\">Annual Narrative Statement.<\/a><\/p><p>&#8211; The value of our work to embed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westminster.ac.uk\/research\/researcher-support\/research-data\">Research Data Management<\/a> best practice at the University is becoming increasingly clear.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-c428514\" data-id=\"c428514\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-378b7cf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"378b7cf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Research Culture<\/strong><\/p><p>&#8211; Since the expansion of the RKEO, there has been a steady increase in the quality of proposals submitted for funding and research ethics review. You can find more about the various functions of the office <a href=\"https:\/\/universityofwestminster.sharepoint.com\/sites\/00277\/SitePages\/Who%27s-who-in-the-Research-Knowledge-Exchange-Office.aspx\">here<\/a> and read more elsewhere in this <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/researchoffice\/\">blogsite<\/a>.<\/p><p>&#8211; The University\u2019s early\/mid-career researcher representatives carried out a survey of their constituency\u2019s needs in March and published a <a href=\"https:\/\/universityofwestminster.sharepoint.com\/sites\/00277\/Shared%20Documents\/Forms\/AllItems.aspx?id=%2Fsites%2F00277%2FShared%20Documents%2FResearcher%20Development%2FSurveys%2FE%2DMCR%20Survey%20Report%20%2Epdf&amp;parent=%2Fsites%2F00277%2FShared%20Documents%2FResearcher%20Development%2FSurveys\">report<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/universityofwestminster.sharepoint.com\/sites\/00277\/Shared%20Documents\/Forms\/AllItems.aspx?id=%2Fsites%2F00277%2FShared%20Documents%2FResearcher%20Development%2FSurveys%2FECR%20Network%20Proposed%20Action%20Plan%2Epdf&amp;parent=%2Fsites%2F00277%2FShared%20Documents%2FResearcher%20Development%2FSurveys\">action plan<\/a> in May detailing how they might better engage the community in high level conversations regarding growth of research and KE culture.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-2f4c01d elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"2f4c01d\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-b4d5d2d\" data-id=\"b4d5d2d\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1440ff1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1440ff1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Researcher Development<\/strong><\/p><p>&#8211; The University launched its <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/researchoffice\/researcher-development-hub\/\">Researcher Development Hub<\/a> this year, where staff can access the institutional Researcher Development Programme and a host of development videos and guides stored online. The Hub acts as a medium for hybrid engagement with Researcher Development and a common area to store key documents for researchers, eliminating some of the community\u2019s recent issues around locating relevant guidance and information. Colleagues can also find easy links to our new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCKQ2lMy0iHe9FIpVHid5Wwg\">Youtube site<\/a> on the hub.<\/p><p>&#8211; UREC tested an online research ethics training module and work is underway to customise this for the University\u2019s research community needs, with the aim to pilot an online research ethics training programme, open for use by all researchers, including doctoral research students. \u00a0<\/p><p>&#8211; To support promising researchers in the early stages of their careers, the University this year launched the Westminster <a href=\"https:\/\/universityofwestminster.sharepoint.com\/sites\/00277\/SitePages\/Westminster-Researcher-Development-Awards.aspx\">Researcher Development Awards<\/a>, a small amount of funding for 15 academics to put towards supporting their progression and development.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-de33658 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"de33658\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-b5add3e\" data-id=\"b5add3e\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-8a102f2 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"8a102f2\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-41b95af\" data-id=\"41b95af\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-990ab91 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"990ab91\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Communication<\/strong><\/p><p>&#8211; The work of the nascent E\/M-CR network started with building a practice and insight sharing Network, which is now 100+ strong, and is looking to hold termly meetings around emerging themes, including personal and professional development and equality, diversity and inclusion. Elected Representatives of the Readers\u2019 and Professors\u2019 constituency have held several events over the past year, including a consultation feeding into the next institutional Research and KE Strategy, and are seeking to build a network of colleague in a similar vain.<\/p><p>&#8211; The RKEO now disseminate a monthly newsletter with highlights from across the office and containing important updates for Research &amp; KE across the university.
