{"id":449,"date":"2020-03-25T11:12:06","date_gmt":"2020-03-25T11:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/researchoffice\/?p=449"},"modified":"2026-02-26T13:16:43","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T13:16:43","slug":"publish-open-access-with-springer-compact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.westminster.ac.uk\/researchoffice\/publish-open-access-with-springer-compact\/","title":{"rendered":"Publish Open Access with Springer Nature"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>UPDATED: JANUARY 2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DESPITE INFORMATION TO THE CONTRARY FROM SPRINGER NATURE &#8211; FULLY OPEN ACCESS (GOLD) JOURNALS <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">ARE NOT INCLUDED<\/span> IN THIS &#8216;READ AND PUBLISH&#8217; AGREEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Corresponding authors affiliated with the University of Westminster may be eligible to publish their articles OA with fees covered in hybrid journals. The agreement includes publishing in more than 2,000&nbsp;journals across the Springer Nature portfolio, including&nbsp;<em>Nature<\/em>, Nature Research journals and Palgrave journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be eligible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You must identify yourself during the author identification process (you will be asked to do this once your article has been accepted for publication).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The article must be published in either:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Springer and Palgrave journals on Springer Nature Link, and Academic journals on Nature.com.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/resource-cms.springernature.com\/springer-cms\/rest\/v1\/content\/19371880\/data\/v13\">Check the list of journals that are included in the agreement<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>OA publications in&nbsp;<em>Nature<\/em>&nbsp;and Nature Research journals on nature.com\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/resource-cms.springernature.com\/springer-cms\/rest\/v1\/content\/25488284\/data\/v5\">Check the list of journals that are included in the agreement<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must be the corresponding author who is affiliated with the University of Westminster at the point of acceptance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Articles published in fully open gold open access journals <strong>are not included.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The output types for Springer articles include: original research and review articles, brief communications and continuing education articles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The output types for Nature articles include: research articles, which refers to Original Papers that may also be referred to as analysis, brief communications, registered reports and technical reports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Not all journals are included in this agreement.
