Exploring the possibilities and tensions in student-staff partnerships and social justice work in Higher Education
In recent years there has been growing interest in exploring the links between student-staff partnerships and social justice work. Practical and theoretical work has been taking place around the world and we are seeing the emergence of fruitful discussions about the role of partnerships in anti-racist, decolonial and feminist work. At this roundtable, we invite the international students as partners community together for focussed conversations around the issues that arise, and the possibilities that emerge, when we approach social justice through partnerships and when we build partnerships through social justice work.
Student-staff partnership at Westminster is grounded in social justice work. We strive constantly to ask radical questions, centre minoritised groups and challenge traditional approaches to knowledge creation. This work takes form through our Students as Co-Creators (SCC) programme and our Pedagogies for Social Justice (PSJ) project.
We are now inviting abstracts from students and staff to present a paper, host a panel of three papers, or facilitate a workshop that centre social justice and student-staff partnerships. We welcome applications in the following formats:
Fully online paper presentations (30 mins including Q&A)
In person paper presentations (30 mins including Q&A)
Fully online panels of three papers (90 mins including Q&A)
In person panels of three papers (90 mins including Q&A)
In person workshops (2 hours)
