London’s airports: best to worst

Want to cheers to a stress-free winter getaway before you even land? Voice of London have picked out the cities major airports and found you the winners.

Thousands of people responded to a Which? survey after the summer, rating their airport experiences across the UK. Based on overall satisfaction, customers gave London Luton a hard-hitting score of 29%, crowning it the worst airport in the country. Holiday-goers were left short of relaxing as they experienced hectic bag drops, overcrowding and “chaos” at customs.

London has more airports than any other major city, so how do you pick where to fly? We used this survey to rank them from best to worst, with customers giving thought to food outlets, baggage reclaim – even the toilets.

London Southend wins as the highest rated airport in the city. Losing out on first place across all UK airports to Doncaster Sheffield.

London City takes second place, being “convenient to get to”.

Heathrow and Gatwick score mid-range results, yet are the airports with the highest numbers of passenger traffic in the UK.

Unsurprisingly, London Luton finds itself at the bottom. An airport spokesman defended this, stating that the poll took place during the most intensive phase of the airports redevelopments.

It has been on the bottom of the Which? poll for the fifth year running.
