Earlier this year it was announced Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker would be taking over from Peter Capaldi and become the 13th Doctor, and more notably, the first female one. But today the BBC have revealed her much anticipated Doctor Who look.
Since the show first aired in 1963, each Time Lord has had something unique to their costume. David Tennant, who was the 10th Doctor, had the pinstriped suit. Afterwards, Matt Smith proved once and for all that bow ties are cool with his regeneration.
There isn’t much that hasn’t been done when it comes to the costumes for the Doctor; fans have seen gawky glasses, tweed, leather jackets, ruffles, and capes. But with the first female doctor, are they in for something completely new? Not exactly.
Whittaker opted for a subtly striped jumper, paired with an oversized grey coat, blue trousers, sturdy boots and a favourite amongst Time Lords, braces.

It also appears that the Doctor is not the only one who has had a make-over; the Tardis has also seen an upgrade.
The Saint John’s Ambulance logo had previously appeared on the right side of the Tardis – and had done since 2010 and before that in the 1960’s. But in the newly released images that appears to have gone.
Whittaker, told the Mirror that she has already filmed her regeneration from the current doctor, Peter Capaldi, which will hit television screens this Christmas.

When Whittaker was announced as the 13th Doctor back in July, some fans were more pleased than others. But since the reveal of her outfit, fans have again taken to Twitter to share their views – and some interesting comparisons to another famous TV aliens.

Naturally, not a lot else has been revealed about the 13th Doctor, but with the first female Time Lord and a new head writer for the show, fans can expect a refreshing new tone for the show.
