Hamilton grabs fourth world title as Verstappen wins 2017 Mexican Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton has just added a fourth world title to his tally by finishing 9th in Mexico City, becoming the most titled British F1 driver in the history.

“It doesn’t feel real. That’s not the kind of race that I wanted. I never gave up, I kept going right to the end,” said  emotional Hamilton.

He joins Vettel and Alain Prost on four F1 championships, only behind Michael Schumacher holding the all-time record with seven trophies, and Juan Manuel Fangio with five.

PSG’s forward Neymar sent a message to the champion: “Hey Lewis, it’s Neymar. I’m very happy for you bro.”

Verstappen won the race today ahead of Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen, leading the pack from the very beginning. “The start was crucial. After last week this was the perfect race”, he said.

Hamilton was hit in the first lap by Vettel, who managed to finish fourth but needed to be second to keep the championship fight alive.
