Lewis Hamilton wins the Turkish GP sealing his seventh F1 title, equalling Michael Schumacher’s record of seven drivers world titles.

In a race which was equally as challenging as it was unpredictable, Hamilton pulled off an unlikely victory from a sixth place start on the grid to secure his 94th win of a spectacular career.

Already the record holder for the most victories, pole positions, podiums, points and now world titles, Hamilton’s achievements make him statistically the most successful F1 driver of all time.

Realising the scale of his momentous victory Hamilton reacted with raw emotion in a post-race interview with Sky Sports, saying “I’m definitely a bit lost for words.

“I’ve got to say thank you to my family. We dreamed of this when we were young, watching the Grand Prix, and this is way, way beyond our dreams. It’s so important for kids – dream the impossible. You’ve got to work for it, chase it, and never give up or doubt yourself.”

Lewis Hamilton triumphed with only three races left in the 2020 season.

His teammate Valtteri Bottas completed a torrid race outside the points, finishing in 14th place, creating a 110-point lead in the drivers’ standings.

Sergio Perez finished second for Racing Point.

The Mexican was second in the opening stages of the grand prix, a position behind his teammate Lance Stroll, who went on to cross the checkered line in 9th place.

A disappointing end for Stroll in an otherwise impressive weekend.
