London’s best spooky season events for Halloween 2022

Halloween is the most acceptable time of year to celebrate all things whacky, unholy and terrifying – so celebrate like it’s a matter of life or death.

Although originating from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, it’s become a national holiday for individuals to party big and party hard; and the one time it’s acceptable for us to transform into somebody completely different. Last year’s events were a little sparse due to reasons we don’t need to delve too deep into – so here are the best upcoming Halloween events to scare London properly this year.

Dead Icons Halloween Party: Thriller With Forever Jackson

Forever Jackson was Awarded the No.1 Tribute Show in the UK back in 2013, but its timeless attention to detail still classes them as one of the best tribute acts to the late Michael Jackson. Wembley’s BOXPARK presents a lively night with drink deals and a recreation of some of the most iconic Thriller dance moves, it’s not an opportunity you’d want to ghost out on if you’re into live music, dancing and Halloween.

The Purge (A Halloween Special)

Bringing this on-screen terror to reality with Leicester Square’s biggest Halloween party on Friday, the 28th of October. With prizes for the best fancy dress, and three different DJ’s presenting music of hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, bashment, afrobeats, amapiano, UK funky house and more.

Stranger Tings Halloween Party

If you’re a fan of 80s music and fashion, now’s your chance to travel 40 years back in time for this groovy night of all-things Stranger Things. The Gable in Moorgate will be hosting this Soca night of Stranger Tings on Saturday the 29th of October- and of course, prizes for the best male and female costumes will be rewarded.

Halloween Bal Masqué

Described as; ‘a night where standard behaviours and conversations are tossed away, where everyone is an artist and free to be whoever they wish’, values that are at the true core of the Halloween spirit. This exotic night full of mystery combines class with mischief with gothic performances, music, dancing and more. Throw yourself into the main character you’ve always desired by changing your name in black-tie style. This is the perfect event for those who are wanting to be a bit more innovative and elusive for Halloween this year, at the National Liberal Club in Whitehall Place on Friday, the 28th of October.

Or if you fancy something a little less extreme…

ABBA Halloween Party

Enjoy a stress-free Halloween on Saturday the 29th of October, by opting for a night of dinner, drinks and dancing to support a live ABBA tribute band. Featuring a selection of spooky cocktails and a buffet, you can enjoy your night without having to worry about where the nearest chippy is to compliment your alcohol goggles. Transform into the Dancing Queen (or king) for your chance to leave with a prize to remember the night.

HorrOctober

It’s already been running for a month-and-a-half, but still has plenty of life left until it closes on November the 1st. The Prince Charles on Leicester Place is known for going big for Halloween, by showcasing classic horror hits such as Final Destination, The Exorcist, Poltergeist and tons more. It’s perfect for the film buff who wants to spend the season doing something they love, and what’s even better is the whole thing peaks on October the 30th, where they play five iconic horror films back-to-back. But don’t worry about sleep- you’ll be too scared to even try.

The Haunted London Pub Walk

Channel your inner-ghostbuster by touring some of London’s most haunted pubs. Being only £10pp, it’s the perfect spooky-touch for students to celebrate the Halloween season. The walk begins with a hauntingly-chilling tale followed by unravelling of the history behind street names, poltergeists, bodysnatchers and burnings, phantoms and more. Starting at Wrens Lantern and ending at Viaduct Tavern, the walk is short but to be packed with hundreds of years worth of existence.
